2 Simple Ways To Increase Email Open Rates – Way # 1

This one is really easy! All you need to do is make sure your name is in the “from” field of your email broadcast. Many people look at the “from” field in order to decide whether to open the email or trash it. If you are using initials or a company name, change it now and get more opens!

I talked about this second way in another blog post a few weeks ago. This is also simple. All you need to do is save the people who didn’t open your first broadcast into a new segment and send them the exact email again with a different subject line!

I know aweber has this functionality – you’ll have to check with your system if you are not using aweber.

In doing this, I sometimes do it twice – send out email number 1 – wait 6 hours or so, make a new list/segment from the un-opens and then send them the same email with a different subject line. Then a while later do it again, using the un-opens from the second email to create the list to send to for the third.

What I’ve seen happen with this is a doubling or tripling of the number of people who read my email! Very cool – I didn’t have to write multiple emails, just change the subject line!

Proof That It Works!

I posted yesterday the importance of sending out a couple follow up emails to those who didn’t open your first broadcast email.

I normally try to keyword optimize all my posts – as you should as well – but – I thought this was so cool, I just needed to send it to you without any optimization . . .

In case you can’t read the aweber tracking chart, here’s what it says:

Email # 1 – got 54 opens – 7.4% of emails mailed
Email # 2 – got 27 opens – 3.9% of emails sent
Email # 3 – got 44 opens – 6.1% of emails sent

What this means is:

My first email got 7.4% of the people on my list to open it, but the two follow up emails sent to people who had not opened the earlier emails got a total of 10.0% opens – more than double the first email!

This means that if you follow what I told you in the prior post, you can get over twice as many people to read your email!

I feel so stupid not to have figured this out before!  What an easy way to double your opens and response.

 

 

 

How To Increase Email Broadcast Optins

If you would like to increase email broadcast optins, here’s an easy way to do it.

The video below shows how to do this step by step using aweber, but most autoresponder or email broadcast systems let you do the same thing.

Essentially all we are doing to increase email broadcast optins is to send the same email broadcast a second and third time to the people who never opened it.  We change the headline, but otherwise use the same email.  Those receiving it will not know it’s the same message because they have not opened it before.

The way you do this is to click on the broadcast you want to resend, then click on the number of people who opened the broadcast.

Next, there is a button on the right side of the page where you can click on the non-opens. When you select that, it shows you how many people did not open your first send so “click send to them” to create a new “segment”.

Then copy the message by clicking the “copy” button and I recommend only changing the email subject line. Since the people who will see this message never opened the first one, maybe the new subject line will entice them to open it.

You can do this same process yet again for those who didn’t open the first or the second send and send a third time with yet another headline.

You do not need to worry about sending the same message to those who already opened it because you are only sending to those who didn’t.

This is guaranteed to get your message more “opens” and only takes a minute to do and the easiest way I know to increase email broadcast optins.
